Pleasanton, TX – Today, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced nearly $5 million in federal funding for general operations at Atascosa Health Center. The funding was secured through the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Atascosa Health Center will utilize the funds to cover operating expenses such as salaries, utilities, and supplies and therefore continue providing essential health services at its six locations covering a 5,019 square mile service area. “I am very excited to award the Atascosa Health Center with this federal grant funding,” said Congressman Cuellar, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “The Atascosa Health Center provides care to many people in South Texas who otherwise would not have access to primary health care. This funding ensures that the center can continue to run its operations smoothly and effectively while caring for as many people as possible. I will continue to support our South Texas health centers with opportunities for competitive grants to support our community needs. I would like to thank Monty Small for his continued support of this incredible community-based service.” Across the country, health centers deliver affordable, accessible, quality, and value-based primary health care to millions of people regardless of their ability to pay. Health centers serve 1 in 11 people across the country, and they lead the nation in driving quality improvement and reducing health care costs for America’s taxpayers. The funding is from 2 awards secured over the past year: $3,676,532 $1,225,510 Total Funding: $4,902,042
