Washington, DC—Today, U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced that $12,755,389 in new federal funding under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is headed to San Antonio International Airport, Stinson Municipal Airport and Kelly Field for much-needed improvements.

“Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these new grants will deliver good-paying jobs for Texas while making sorely needed renovations to these airfields,” said Congressman Cuellar.  “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has already proven to be a tremendous victory for Texans. I was proud to support this historic legislation in the House, and I will keep fighting to ensure every family can benefit from these investments as we rebuild and reimagine our local infrastructure. We must continue to ensure that all travelers flying to and from San Antonio have an easier and safer journey—especially as airlines are combatting challenges from the pandemic.”

San Antonio International Airport, Stinson Municipal Airport, and Kelly Field will receive a similar tranche of funding from the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law each year for the next five years, as part of a program for airport development.  The tranche could vary from year to year, as the funding reflects annual totals.  In addition to these guaranteed funds, these airfields can compete with other airports across the country for grants from an additional $5 billion nationally for terminal improvements.

"This generational investment in aviation represents a significant triumph for San Antonio International Airport, Stinson Municipal Airport, the community and the region. Our airports play a vital role in travel and this funding allows us to improve our infrastructure, keep up with current air travel demands and plan for the growth of both of our airports. We greatly appreciate the leadership and support of Congressman Cuellar and his Congressional colleagues for making this historical investment in our future,” said Jesus Saenz, Jr., Director of Airports, San Antonio Airport System.

On November 15th, President Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which included $15 billion in formula funding to help redevelop airports across the country.  Projects that qualify for funding include: improvements to runways and taxiways, terminal development and noise prevention.  The law also includes an additional $5 billion nationally for FAA towers and facilities funding, which the FAA will distribute among airports in need.

Breakout of Airport Funding is below:

San Antonio International Airport—$11,697,389

Stinson Municipal Airport—$295,000

Kelly Field—$763,000
