The funds will be utilized as working capital to increase the production of two different types of mushroom extracts.

“These federal funds will assist One Up Mushroom Products in the processing, marketing, sale, and distribution of their premium mushroom extracts. These type of Value Added Producer Grants reward entrepreneurs’ innovation and ability to provide value-added products to our community. These mushroom extracts provide value to customers’ lives by acting as a health supplement. Congratulations to the owners of One Up Ramiro, Andres, and Jose. I appreciate the endless nights of work and creativity you put forth to make this happen,” said Congressman Cuellar. “I want to thank Under Secretary Xochitl Small for coming down to the Rio Grande Valley and demonstrating her commitment with our community. Xochitl has an exceptional track record working with the USDA during her tenure as a U.S. Representative in Congress and her leadership as the head of Rural Development will prove to be instrumental in securing valuable resources for rural communities. I will work closely with her as we ensure that we continue to support communities all over Texas-28.”

“Small businesses and their owners are often the beating heart of rural communities across this country,” said Under Secretary Small. “The investment we are announcing today demonstrates how the Biden-Harris Administration has put rural business owners and the communities they call home at the forefront of economic recovery.”

“We are honored to have been selected for funding and very grateful to the USDA for the opportunity that this award represents for our business.” Said CEO of Mycological Solutions, LLC Ramiro Villareal

The project will focus on two different Mushroom Tinctures, one which is made with Lion's Mane mushroom (Hericium Erinaceus) and the other which is made with Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma Lucidum). The project aims to position the One Up brand as a maker of trusted quality products by expanding their customer base, capturing a larger share of the market, and increasing the overall profitability of the business.

The money was awarded as a Value Added Producer Grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development.
