Rep. Cuellar Helps Keep Government Open and Secures Funding for Farmers and Ranchers in South Texas

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, voted for the bipartisan government funding bill to keep the government open. He announced $110 billion to help fund disaster assistance efforts across the country, including $21 billion in disaster assistance as well as $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers and ranchers nationwide, including South Texas, in the bipartisan government funding bill. Furthermore, he announced that he helped secure language to provide economic support for farmers in South Texas: “We got it done,” said Congressman Henry Cuellar, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “Today, I was happy to pass the bipartisan government funding bill that will keep our government open through March 14th. In this legislation, I helped secure $10 billion in economic assistance as well as $21 billion in disaster assistance for our farmers and ranchers. Furthermore, I helped secure language to provide economic support to farmers who have been negatively impacted by Mexico's failure to deliver water to the United States in accordance with the 1944 Water Treaty. I also secured critical funding for water infrastructure projects in the district. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue to provide the resources South Texans need to prosper.” ### |
