San Antonio, TX – A formal announcement regarding this funding will be made at a future date: Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $11,160,567 in federal funds to the San Antonio International Airport. This funding, awarded through the Federal Aviation Commission’s (FAA) Airport Coronavirus Response Grant Program (ACRGP), will be used to provide economic relief for the airport to prevent, prepare and respond to the pandemic. “Airports across the country have seen an extreme drop in travel, and consequently, revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic,” said Congressman Cuellar. “This funding will be essential in ensuring that our airports can respond and recover from economic hardships. As a senior Appropriator, I am committed to fighting for our transportation and travel industry so we can continue to strengthen our economy and create more jobs. I want to thank Mayor Ron Nirenberg, City Council members, City Manager Erik Walsh, Director of Airports Jesus Saenz as well as all of the San Antonio International Airport staff for their dedication to protecting our city’s tourism and transportation industry during these challenging times.” |
