KTSA: Cuellar, Smith Slam President’s Keystone XL Decision

Cuellar, Smith Slam President’s Keystone XL Decision

No surprise–but plenty of frustration from Texas Members of Congress–on both sides of the political aisle–after President Barack Obama officially kills plans for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

“There was no reason not to go forward with the construction of the pipeline that was going to create thousands of jobs across the United States–including in Texas” said Congressman Lamar Smith, who chairs the House Science Committee, which oversees environmental issues.

“Once again, you have an Administration following a politically correct agenda–or one they think is politically correct–instead of doing what’s good for the country” Smith told KTSA News.

Across the aisle–Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar said the President’s decision opens the door for competing countries to benefit from North American oil.
