Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Lisa Mensah today announced that the City of Poteet will receive $30,000 in federal funds to complete a Preliminary Engineering Report and Environmental Report. The reports are required for the city to complete an application to apply for financial assistance from USDA Rural Development for water system improvements.

“These federal funds are an important investment for the future of Poteet and its water systems which are crucial to the community’s families and businesses,” said Congressman Cuellar. “The ability to apply for financial assistance from USDA is crucial for the future of the Poteet’s water system, and this is a huge step towards getting that assistance.”

The USDA Rural Development provided a $30,000 grant, and the City of Poteet is contributing $10,000 for a total for $40,000 to complete the Preliminary Engineering Report and Environmental Report.
