Today, House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) and Subcommittee on Emergency Communications, Preparedness and Response Chairman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) applauded the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for taking steps to support a nationwide emergency alerts and warnings system for State and local partners. On May 14, the Homeland Security Subcommittee dealing with emergency communications, chaired by Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX), raised concerns about the Federal government’s lack of attention to developing effective alert and warning capabilities across cell networks that State and local emergency managers could harness. ####
Congressman Henry Cuellar is a member of the House
Homeland Security, Small Business, and Agriculture Committees in the 110th
Congress; accessibility to constituents, education, health care, economic
