Washington, DC—U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) secured $29,000,000 in the FY23 Appropriations legislation for the construction of a new child development center at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. The new facility will include an area for infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers, preschoolers, administrative space, lobby areas, restrooms, kitchen area, and playground areas with equipment. Specifically, this new facility will increase its capacity by 214 spaces, for a total of 492 spaces available for children at JBSA-Randolph and reduce the waitlist for military families at Randolph. “Our military families continuously serve our country with their time, their dedication and their commitment to supporting our servicemembers who are so bravely fighting on the front lines for our freedoms,” said Congressman Cuellar, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “This new childcare facility will ensure that families of all shapes and sizes serving at JBSA-Randolph have state of the art childcare facilities that will help their children grow and thrive. I want to thank Chairwoman Wasserman-Schultz and Congressman Gonzalez for their care and support of JBSA-Randolph families, and to the entire Appropriations Committee for prioritizing our military and veteran families.” "JBSA welcomes the opportunity to construct a modern child care facility at JBSA-Randolph. This much needed facility will enhance access to childcare, enhance military family quality of life and, ultimately, improve readiness and retention," said Brig Gen Russell D. Driggers, Commander, Joint Base San Antonio and 502d Air Base Wing.
