Laredo, TX—Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) released the following statement regarding the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines of Laredo Medical Center and STAT Specialty Hospital: “It is great to see the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrive to Laredo Medical Center and STAT Specialty Hospital today. By the end of the year, Texas is expected to receive 1.4 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine. “An effective COVID-19 vaccine was rapidly developed due to the tireless efforts of our researchers and scientists, as well as billions in federal funding. As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, I worked hard to secure almost $10 billion in federal resources, which have been invested in these efforts, including funding from the CARES Act. “However, it is critical that Congress pass a subsequent COVID-19 relief package to provide additional funding for vaccine distribution, before the close of the year. This will ensure that the treatment is safely and rapidly transported to all communities in the United States. “This past year has been difficult for all Americans, but I promise you this: we will prevail. Today marks a turning point in our nation’s battle against this virus. I want to thank all of our health care workers who have been working since day 1 to protect our communities and slow the spread of the virus.” In the photo: COVID-19 vaccines at Laredo Medical Center. |
