WASHINGTON– Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $30,605,083 in federal funds from the Department of Education for East Central, Randolph Field, Judson, and North East Bexar County Independent School Districts. The federal funds authorized under Title I Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, provide financial assistance to local education agencies with high numbers of children from low-income families. These funds assist schools in ensuring that all children meet state academic standards. “As someone who has experienced the transformative power of education, I am pleased to have secured this grant for our local school districts,” Congressman Cuellar said, “We must invest in the educational needs and the interest of Texas students because they are our most important asset for the country’s future. I will continue to support our school systems by providing them the necessary resources so they can provide high quality education in our Texas classrooms. Bexar County
As a member of the Appropriations committee, Congressman Cuellar helped secure $17 billion for Title I Grants to local education agencies, an increase of $453 million over the 2019 enacted level and the President’s budget request. This vital increase in funds will continue to support schools, teachers, and administrators in providing children the best education possible.
