LAREDO, TX- On Monday, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) was honored by the Korean War Veterans and the Daughters of the American Revolution in the annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Laredo. During the ceremony, he was recognized for his dedication and support of all veterans. Memorial Day is a federal holiday and is held for remembering and honoring persons who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Following the ceremony, Congressman Cuellar attended the American Legion Memorial Day Service at the City of Laredo Veterans Cemetery.

“I want to thank the Korean War Veterans Association and the Daughters of the American Revolution for presenting me with this honor. I appreciate the important work these two organizations have done to the benefit of countless individuals and families,” said Congressman Cuellar.

“As I look back and reflect, I am reminded of what we often take for granted, that our nation is unlike any other, thanks to the patriots who have selflessly stepped up to serve, yet never returned. Today, I want to not only remember and honor those who have passed in the line of duty, but also those they have left behind. Let us take some time to remember every brave man and woman who has laid down their life for our country, and thank those that currently, courageously are serving this great nation.”

Ernesto Sanchez, from the Korean War Veteran Association and Daughters of the American Revolution said “We presented this award to Congressman Cuellar because of how much he has done for the veterans. We always honor the best and those who have done something for our nation. We have never had anybody that really cared for our country as much as he does. There is nobody better than him for the job. I congratulate  him because he is always willing to get out the box and work across the aisle to tackle whatever is in front of him with no hesitation.”
