Rep. Cuellar: Barbed Wire in Laredo Comes Down

LAREDO | Olya Voytovich, DC Press Secretary (202-226-1583); Leslie Martinez, District Press Secretary (956-286-6007), December 5, 2018

LAREDO, TEXAS -- Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) released the following statement regarding the removal of barbed wire on the border in Laredo, Texas.

“I just spoke to Director of the Joint Task Force-West Manny Padilla, who informed me that they will be removing barbed wire in Laredo that was prepared by the troops in recent months as an attempt to impede the oncoming migrant caravan at the border. This is a welcomed change, and I am encouraged to see that a resolution has been agreed upon. I do understand that if circumstances change in the future, we will need to look for ways in which we can reinforce our border security.

“I would like to thank Manny Padilla, local Border Patrol Chief Felix Chavez, along with CBP Director David Higgerson, for their continued work on this issue.”
