WASHINGTON, D.C. (KGNS) - With the international community on high alert after roughly 30 were killed in Brussels , members of congress discussed how the U.S. Should proceed.

Terror in Brussels has Congress clamoring for answers once again. Answers as to how the United States can keep the international community, and the homeland, safe.

"We can't be weak in our position that we are intent to destroy and totally defeat and eradicate terrorism around the world, and we have not yet put forth that kind of message", said Jody Hice.

Congressman Jody Hice thinks the U.S. has a weak stance against terrorism and it's confusing the international community. Congressman Will Hurd is a former CIA operative, he says the focus should be on the immigration crisis in Europe.

"I think this is going to harden the resolve of many of our European allies. I think this is going to make them rethink some of their policies and how they handle border security in their country", said Hurd.

Brussels, a symbol of international cooperation, has now seen terror. Lawmakers here on Capitol Hill fear these large attacks will continue if the U.S. fails to take charge.

"When they send that type of message, they're saying they can reach anywhere. Especially in a place like Brussels", said Henry Cuellar.

Congressmen Ralph Abraham says U.S. citizens need to remain vigilant while the U.S. and its allies combat this threat.

"We need to be the hunter. We need to go after them. We don't want to wait for another event to happen like this", said Abraham.

An overwhelming consensus here on Capitol Hill - lawmakers want Tuesday's attackers brought to justice.
