South Texas Senior Summit on April 7

The RGV Hispanic Chamber Health Committee is well underway at making preparations for the annual “South Texas Senior Summit” that is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Boggus Event Center in Pharr.

The event focuses on the senior community and offers free health screenings and dozens of informational booths that offer free services from the local, state and federal agencies. Both Congressmen Ruben Hinojosa and Henry Cuellar approached the RGV Hispanic Chamber to create such an event to service the local people more than eight years ago. The event has grown from 150 people to now between 800 to 900 people.

The fun & informative event also consists of a Zumba exercise corner, a Comfort Corner where the seniors get massages and complimentary nail polishes, a snack, lunch and a dance. Meanwhile they will also be entertained with live performances that include dancers and mariachi. Door prizes are also donated by all of the vendors and sponsors of the Senior Summit.
