His opponent is Congressman Henry Cuellar who is running to be re-elected- he has held the position for 14 years.

Hayward says border securityhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png is one of his main priorities if elected.

"The Narco terrorism that is Islamic terrorism on the border to secure the border so businesseshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png are willing to invest along the border to bring into the tourism and jobs and everything", said Hayward

That's something, that according to Cuellars' campaign websitehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png is also an issue for the current congressman.

Hayward says building a fence is needed to send a message to people trying to harm the country.

"It's for the people that are thinking bad things we can't come across here if you do come across the first time you coming through free the next time you come through if you try to come you're going to go to jail", said Hayward.

Cuellar has also worked toward border security, according to his website he wrote the southern border security Taskforce Act of 2009.

Which increases severity in U.S. border cities from violence associated with drug trafficking, gunrunning, human smuggling, and kidnapping.

Hayward adds says he wants to make the crossing process easy for the people who have the right too.

"As far as all the local familieshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png and everybody you have your cousins and your uncles across the border there you should have a legal right to be able to walk across the border back-and-forth without someone sitting there giving you a hard time", said Hayward.

Hayward says once the border is secured, businesshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png will want to invest in Laredo which will lead to employment opportunities.

Cuellar has openly supported Hillary Clinton's presidency campaign. But Hayward says he leans more toward the candidates on the Republican presidency race.

"Even though I'm a christian conservative democrat Donald Trump is a man it's good to get the job done", said Hayward.

What they do have in common both candidates hope to represent south Texas in Washington D.C.

"Once I go in an elected I represent the people of Laredo not as a Democrat, not as a Republican but as the people of Laredo", said Hayward.

When reaching out to the candidates, Congress Henry Cuellar was unable to granthttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png KGNS News an interview due to scheduling conflicts.
