KRGV: DHS Asking for Less Aerial Assets for Border Security

DHS Asking for Less Aerial Assets for Border Security

Governor Greg Abbott and Congressman Henry Cuellar want the Department of Homeland Security to explain why they’re requesting less aerial surveillance.

DHS is requesting 50 percent less aerial detection and monitoring hours from the Department of Defense.

In a letter to DHS, Abbott and Cuellar said the exact opposite should be happening. They said they believe they should request more resources, since there is a rise in people crossing the border.

They’re also asking the department to explain how less aerial assets won’t harm border security.
