Congressman Cuellar announces $900K grant to TAMIU

 A new program is set to begin at TAMIU, but this one will focus on the student's wellness.

A $900,000 grant has been awarded to the university.

With these funds, students will have access to prevention programs.

Congressman Henry Cuellar made the announcement during a press conference on Friday, and says he hopes it will be a great help.

"Hopefully, the services they will provide over the next three years {will be to} 220-300 students. This will {be} to provide education, prevention, testing for certain illnesses", says Cuellar.

The university and SCAN will work together to help spread awareness of prevention and testing to students and other Webb County residents.
