KGNS: Congressman Henry Cuellar responds to ICE immigration policy

Congressman Henry Cuellar responds to a recent decision by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement regarding detaining mothers and children.

Ice won't detain mothers with children unless if they're not a threat to public safety or National Securityhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png.

That is, if they provide a verifiable addresshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png wherever they're from, and prove reasonable fear.

Cuellar sent us a statement that reads in part,

"It is of utmost importance to me that the families in these detention facilities are being treated fairly and respectfully. While I do not support a systemhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png of catch and release, I have supported increasing alternative-to-detention options, when appropriate, for those taken into custody awaiting their time in court.”
