KGNS: LISD Class of 2015 to receive diplomas this June

The Laredo Independent School District’s classof 2015 will be receiving their high school diplomas during commencement ceremonies scheduled for Thursday, June 4, and Friday, June 5. Commencement ceremonies for Nixon, Cigarroa, and Martin High Schools are scheduled for Thursday, June 4, at the Laredo Energy Arena. Graduation day begins with Nixon High School at 10:00 a.m. with the procession of graduates starting at 9:45 a.m. Cigarroa High School’s commencement is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The procession of graduates for Cigarroa High will start promptly at 1:45 p.m. Martin High School’s convocation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with the procession of graduates to begin at 5:45 p.m. Doors to the LEA will open one hour prior to each graduation ceremony. Commencement ceremonies for the Early College High Schools graduating class will be held on Friday, June 5, at The Texas A&M International University Kinesiology and Convocation Building (Gymnasium). The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. The LISD Police Department in partnership with the City of Laredo Police Department will be providing traffic control and security during each of the ceremonies. For those who are not able to attend the graduation ceremonies for Nixon, Cigarroa, and Martin High schools, Laredo ISD will be offering a free live video broadcast. Online viewing of the graduation ceremonies will be broadcast live via YouTube. A link to view the ceremonies will also be available on LISD’s website at www.laredoisd.org. The parents of the top students from each high school will be guests of honor on the stage along with LISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Marcus Nelson, and school administrators. Students will also hear congratulatory messages from U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina, and Laredo Mayor Pete Seanz. Admission to the LISD graduations is free. However, a ticket is required at the door. Tickets will be distributed by each high school during rehearsals.
