LAREDO MORNING TIMES: CBP officer in Laredo recognized for 'selfless acts'

A CBP officer has been named the agency’s employee of the month for her selfless acts in helping a woman who had arrived in Laredo on a diverted flight after her husband had fallen ill mid-flight and later died at a local hospital.

The officer, Ana Agent, was presented with the CBP Laredo Port of Entry April 2015 Professionalism Employee of the Month plaque during a news conference Monday. The plaque, as well as a paperweight and a Congressional Certificate of Recognition from U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, was presented to Agent by Port Director Joseph Misenhelter and Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina.

Agent, who has been employed as a CBP officer with CBP since 2003, earned the professionalism employee of the month award for her selfless acts in rendering assistance in locating hotels, funeral arrangement providers and providing transportation to the woman whose husband died.

The flight had originated in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and was diverted to Laredo. Agent assisted the distraught woman in finding a hotel to stay, locating local funeral providers and providing her a ride to the airport to fly out the next day.
