Laredo,
May 14, 2015
A passenger rail between the U.S. and Mexico is one step closer to reality. The proposed line would link Monterrey with Laredo, San Antonio and other Texas cities. Language included in a federal appropriations bill for 2016, encourages the Federal Railroad Administration to study what it would take to create the rail and freight line. Congressman Henry Cuellar of Laredo worked to include the language in the appropriations bill. In a statement he said -- “Mexico is a crucial partner to the United States and it’s beneficial for the economies of the United States and Mexico that the people of both countries are able to efficiently and effectively travel back and forth.” He said it will also create jobs on both sides of the borer.
