Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) announced today that this year’s open enrollment period for health insurance will begin this Saturday, November 15th. Residents of Webb County who do not have health insurance can sign up between November 15th and February 15th. Those residents seeking health coverage starting in 2015 must enroll in a plan by December 15th. “Millions of people across the country and in Texas have already enrolled in health insurance,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Our communities in South Texas and on the border have among the lowest rates of health insurance coverage in the country as well as some of the highest rates of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other issues. Having health insurance means peace of mind not just for you but for those who depend on you – children, parents, and grandparents. With the opening of this year’s enrollment period, I want to encourage residents of the 28th District of Texas who do not have insurance to start looking at your options early and to reach out to my office and the local organizations listed here should you have any questions.” To preview plans in your area, visit: https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/. To obtain coverage, enrollees should have available proof of income, a form of identification, proof of residence, and their social security numbers.
