President Obama on Wednesday signed Executive Order 12862 – Streamlining Service Delivery and Improving Customer Service, as required by Congressman Cuellar’s law, Public Law 111-352, the Government Performance and Results Modernization Act. Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced Texas will receive funding for education-related needs, as well as additional support to local school districts. The U.S. Department of Education will obligate funds today, allowing the Texas Education Agency (TEA) access to the funds. The state “will quickly make all funding available to Texas school districts” as stated on TEA’s application to the U.S. Department of Education. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) introduced legislation today that would transform the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care Center in Harlingen, Texas, into a hospital. The bill would expand the health care center by adding in-patient accommodations, an urgent care center and caregiver support services including adult day-care.
