“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lady Bird Johnson today. She was a great Texan, but above all, she was an exceptional First Lady, wife and mother,” said U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, TX-28. "Her tireless work for the beautification of America and her dedication to the founding of the Headstart Program will forever be her legacy. Her death is a great loss to Texas and to the nation. I extend my most sincere condolences to the Johnson Family, in particular to her daughters Lynda Bird and Luci Baines.”
