Today, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28) announced $113,000 in Federal Funding for the Jim Hogg County Airport. “This critical funding will ensure the Jim Hogg County Airport is able to make needed updates to its infrastructure,” said Dr. Cuellar. “I will continue to fight for federal investments that support our local economy and development. I would like to thank the County Judge Juan Carlos Guerra, the county commissioners, and the Airport Manager Clark Rossi.” The funding, as provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Infrastructure Grant, can be used for many purposes, including runways, taxiways, safety and sustainability projects, terminals, and more. Previous grants have been used for a paving project and an Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS). This project will improve local airport infrastructure and increase access to air travel to the County. Improvements will boost hunting tourism, the local economy, and improve emergency services. Previously, Jim Hogg County Airport received $822,072 as part of TxDOT’s Aviation Capital Improvement Program - $739,864 of which were federal funds and $82,208 from the county. These funds were used for engineering design, repairing pavement, adding airfield pavement markings, and a seal coat surface treatment. Dr. Cuellar has fought for Jim Hogg county. In Fiscal Year 2024, he secured $1,000,000 in community project funding for the County’s Emergency Response Center. In fiscal year 2023, he secured $1,285,000 in Community Project Funding for repairs and enhancements to the Jim Hogg County Kohler Park. ### |
