Rep. Cuellar Statement on Black History Month

Washington | Dana Youngentob, DC Press Secretary (202-340-9148), February 1, 2022

Washington, DC—Today, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) released the following statement in recognition of Black History Month:

“February is Black History Month. A month to honor the leaders within the Black community fighting against injustice. A month to highlight the young people calling out for change. A month to emphasize that there is still much work left in the fight for equality,” said Congressman Cuellar. “This Black History Month, let us recommit ourselves to the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.—that one day our children and grandchildren will live in a nation where they are not judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Let us work diligently and expeditiously towards that day. Not just this month. But until equity is achieved by all Americans.”
