LAREDO MORNING TIMES: Congressman Cuellar visits Zapata County in ‘Thank You Tour’

Laredo Morning Times, November 17, 2020

Congressman Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, made a stop in Zapata County for his “Thank You Tour” following the 2020 election.

On Nov. 12, Cuellar spoke with community leaders about concerns at the border, funding for first responders, and issues the community is facing due to COVID-19.

Following that discussion, Cuellar presented three Congressional Certificates of Recognition to Commissioner Eddie Martinez, Fire Chief J.J. Meza and Sheriff Alonso Lopez for their years of service to the Zapata community.

“Thank you, Judge Joe Rathmell, members of the Commissioners Court, Sheriff-Elect Raymundo Del Bosque Jr., city and law enforcement employees as well as all the constituents in attendance for making this morning’s visit extremely special and incredibly informative,” Cuellar said in a statement.

Del Bosque congratulated Lopez for his recognition and his many years of service to the Zapata County Sheriff’s Office.

“Your experience, knowledge, dedication and presence will be missed. Your 38 years of service have left a positive print in this office and in our lives,” Del Bosque said in a statement. “Retirement is a new stage of life and I wish you the best in everything and that this new chapter of your life creates a new opportunity of time spent and purpose.”
