East Central, Randolph Field, Judson and North East independent school districts will receive more than $30.6 million in combined federal funding.
The funds are being allocated by the Department of Education based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The act aims to provide financial assistance to school districts for services to improve teaching and learning for children at risk of not meeting state academic standards, particularly those who live in areas with high concentrations low-income families, commonly known as Title I grants.
Of the four districts, North East will receive the highest allocation with $20.3 million, followed by Judson with $7.6 million. East Central and Randolph Field will receive $2.6 million and $44,193, respectively.
“As someone who has experienced the transformative power of education, I am pleased to have helped secure this grant for our local school districts,” said U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
