FOX SAN ANTONIO: Rep. Cuellar announces more than $2.6 million in funding for San Antonio first responders

SAN ANTONIO - Rep. Henry Cuellar announced Monday more than $2.6 million in federal COVID-19 emergency funding for local first responders.

According to a press release, Congressmen Cuellar said a total of $2,688,293 in federal funds will be awarded to assist San Antonio in efforts to prevent, prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We must all work together to protect our law enforcement and first responders who are working on the front lines every day to keep South Texans safe,” Congressman Cuellar said. “This funding will help ensure they receive the proper training, equipment, and medical support needed to combat this crisis. As a senior member on the Appropriations Committee, I am committed to fighting for our first responders receive the necessary support to slow the spread of the coronavirus and protect our community."

Furthermore, these funds will be used as additional awards for the overtime, protective equipment and supplies for first responders through the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CSEF) Program.

"I will continue to work with the State of Texas to ensure all funding that the federal government allocated is dispersed to the hard-working men and women combatting this pandemic every day," Congressman Cuellar added.
