KVEO: Congressman Cuellar announces funding for ports of entry

MCALLEN, Texas (KVEO) — Congressman Henry Cuellar announced 2.8 billion dollars in funding for ports of entry. According to Cuellar, the funding will be used for new construction, major repail, and alterations to LPOEs. The funding was secured in the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee markup, and will then head to full Appropriations Committee markup. Cuellar mentioned in a statement the improvement of infrastructure is critical to the country’s economy, adding the improvements will provide more security for travelers and less traffic. “Just to give you an idea of the different ports that we are trying to take care of the ports of entry- especially the ones in Texas in Brownsville and El Paso,” said Cuellar.
