Laredo, TX – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $1,448,052 in federal funding to Gateway Community Health Center. These funds, awarded through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration' Heath Center Cluster program, will help Gateway Community provide critical health care services to communities in Webb and Zapata Counties.

“Rural counties face unique health care challenges, especially as we fight to combat the current health pandemic,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Gateway Community Health Center covers three counties and two of those counties are within my district. These funds will positively impact their ability to continue providing adequate services to these residents.

“As a senior Appropriator, I will continue to ensure that health centers – including those in rural areas – receive the necessary long-term funding to deliver crucial health care services to our communities. I’d like to thank Elmo Lopez, CEO of Gateway Community Health Center, and the rest of his staff for their constant commitment in continued care for patients during these trying times.”
