Pleasanton, TX – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $1,167,719 in federal funding to Atascosa Health Center (AHC). These funds, awarded through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration' Heath Center Cluster program, will help AHC provide critical health care services to communities in Atascosa, Wilson, and McMullen Counties. “Rural counties face unique health care challenges, especially as we fight to combat the current health pandemic,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Atascosa Health Center covers six counties and three of those counties are within my district. These funds will positively impact their ability to continue providing adequate services to these residents.” “As a senior Appropriator, I will continue to ensure that health centers – including those in rural areas – receive the necessary long-term funding to deliver crucial health care services to our communities. I’d like to thank Monty Small, CEO of Atascosa Health Center, and the rest of his staff for their constant commitment in continued care for patients during these trying times.”
Atascosa Health Center This grant will assist Atascosa Health Center in continuing to provide primary care and support services to underserved and rural populations. Services include medical, dental, behavioral health services, pharmacy care, family planning and obstetrics, immunizations, and nutrition. AHC has a network of six rural clinics which provide services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay for services, their race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, or disability. Health Center Cluster Program Health Resource & Services Administration (HRSA)’s Health Center Cluster Program works to improve access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity in rural and underserved areas. More than 27 million people– 1 in 12 nationwide – rely on a HRSA-funded health center for affordable, accessible primary health care. |
