“This funding will assist vulnerable populations afford housing while working to strengthen economic growth during these challenging times. I am committed to funding programs that combat homelessness and provide Texans with the opportunities to live a successful life. I want to thank Mayor Armando O’Caña and the rest of the city for their dedication to supporting vulnerable populations in our community.” As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Cuellar helped secure $850,000,000 for the *Mainstream Voucher Program in the CARES Act, said the press release. *The Mainstream Voucher Program provides critical housing support for individuals and families with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless, or have previously experienced homelessness and are currently clients in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project. Additionally, the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Mainstream Voucher Program creates partnerships between public housing authorities and local organizations to ensure that disabled individuals have access to services to help them live full and independent lives.
