Both the Mission Reach and Westside Creeks restoration projects have created 113 acres of aquatic habitat, 31 riffle structures, 13 acres of embayment, and restored two river remnants while maintaining and or increasing the flood control capabilities. It was also "delivered on time, on budget, and... was completed for $46 million less than the Corps' cost estimate," Cuellar said.
“Mission Reach has already produced tremendous cultural and economic gains, not just for the Southside – but for all of San Antonio – and this reimbursement will only help further advance revitalizing these areas,” U.S. Rep. Will Hurd said in a statement.
Both Cuellar and Hurd sit on the House Appropriations Committee and worked on getting the funds reimbursed through a bipartisan effort, Cuellar said.
