Pleasanton, TX- Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $1,381,258 in federal funds for the Atascosa Health Center (AHC). These funds, awarded through the Department of Health and Human Services Health Cluster Center funding program, will help AHC provide critical health care services to communities in Atascosa, Wilson, and McMullen Counties. “Access to healthcare services is critical to good health. However, in rural and underserved areas, these services are not always available,” Congressman Cuellar said. “With this funding, Atascosa Health Center will help South Texans receive the health care services they need to achieve the best possible outcomes. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fund health centers, including AHC, which are the back bone to delivering primary and preventative care for rural areas.” “I would like to thank Monty Small, CEO of Atascosa Health Center, and the rest of his staff for providing critical health services to our community. I also want to thank the Cities of Pleasanton, Poteet, and Jourdanton for engaging in this critical mission.” Monty Small, CEO of AHC, said, "The Atascosa Health Center, Inc. is so happy to receive the continued support of our 330 operating grant. This grant is the backbone of our operation and allows AHC to provide the primary healthcare, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services to our patients in all 6 of our locations, In 2019 AHC provided care to over 17,000 patients with 50,000 visits." Atascosa Health Center This grant will assist Atascosa Health Center in continuing to provide primary care and support services to underserved and rural populations. Services include medical, dental, behavioral health services, pharmacy care, family planning and obstetrics, immunizations, and nutrition. In 2019, Atascosa Health Center provided care to more than 17,100 patients across their six locations in Wilson, McMullen, Lytle, Live Oak, Karnes and Atascosa Counties Health Center Cluster Program The Health Center Cluster Program, overseen by the Health Resource & Services Administration (HRSA), which works to improve access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity in rural and underserved areas. More than 27 million people– 1 in 12 nationwide – rely on a HRSA-funded health center for affordable, accessible primary health care.
