Washington, D.C.- Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) continues to encourage South Texans to participate in the 2020 Census, ahead of projections released by the U.S. Census Bureau that the state of Texas could add three seats to its Congressional delegation when districts are redrawn next year. “Our founding fathers were committed to creating a government that represents of the people of this great and diverse nation,” said Congressman Cuellar. “With an accurate Census count, we can ensure that every American has the opportunity to send a representative to Congress that will fight for them in Washington. I will continue to ensure that we make the 2020 Census the best it can be so our communities receive their fair share of resources and representation.” Working to Improve Census Count in Colonias As a member of the Committee on Appropriations, Congressman Cuellar secured language in the final spending bill that ensures the Census provides language assistance to survey respondents, as well as increases outreach activities to historically undercounted communities such as colonias.
