McAllen, TX-- On Saturday, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) accompanied U.S. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and U.S. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan to the McAllen Border Patrol Station to see current operations, discuss border security funding and meet with service members at the border.

“I am pleased to have been able to meet with Acting Secretaries Shanahan and McAleenan to discuss the ongoing situation at our southern border and the need for more funding necessary to secure our borders through personnel and equipment,” said Congressman Cuellar.

“Right now, we need to take care of the families that are being detained and give them the due process and humane treatment every individual deserves. We also need to strengthen and modernize our ports of entry by increasing screening technology and hiring additional personnel.”

“I hope this visit to the U.S.-Mexico border demonstrated the critical need to find solutions for the problems at our border and to improve our security at the border in an effective and efficient way.”
