Representative Henry Cuellar is looking to get some input from area experts when it comes to the renegotiation of NAFTA.

Cuellar held a public hearing on Tuesday where international trade stakeholders were encouraged to attend.

This comes as the Trump administration announced that one of its priorities is to shift away from the North American Free Trade Agreement.

To Cuellar, this is a subject of great importance, he sees trade as the backbone of local economies such as Laredo, and says it has allowed border communities the opportunity to develop.
