Washington Post: Sen. Ted Cruz, Bao Bao and other Washington VIPs marvel at the first snowfall of winter
Washington,

Any time snow and Washington are mentioned in the same sentence, at best, there’s a whimper and, at worst, there’s panic. Winter’s first snowfall precipitated the customary traffic jams, Metro delays and tip-toeing, but it also spurred Washington VIPs to pause for a moment to admire it (and play in it). Here’s their snowcial rundown: Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) probably didn’t anticipate his reentry to Washington and the 114th Congress would be marked by the snow. It’s only his first day back, but we’re sure he’s missing the warmth of Texas already. And fellow Texan, Sen. Ted Cruz (R) agrees. D.C. United’s Chris Rolfe did some humble snow-bragging. Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) captured this snowscape, featuring the Capitol building. With the snow, plus a squint, you can’t really see the scaffolding that encircles the rotunda–well, almost. National Zoo celeb Bao Bao had her first snow encounter. It might take some getting used to for the panda. White House photographer Pete Souza snapped a shot of Bo in the Rose Garden. The first dog looks right at home romping in the white stuff. The first dusting of winter made Wizard Kris Humphries’s return to D.C. post-victory against the New Orleans Pelicans that much sweeter. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/reliable-source/wp/2015/01/06/sen-ted-cruz-bao-bao-and-other-washington-vips-marvel-at-the-first-snowfall-of-winter/ |
