Rep. Cuellar Announces NURSE Corps Scholarship Program Application Cycle is Now Open

Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) announced today that the application cycle for the NURSE Corps Scholarship Program is now open. The NURSE Corps scholarship supports recipients with tuition, required fees, other reasonable educational costs and a monthly living stipend for up to four years. For every year the scholarship is awarded, the student will serve a year at a NURSE Corps-approved facility in urban, rural, or frontier areas with high need. The program requires a minimum 2-year full-time commitment or a part-time equivalent. Fifty percent of award funds will go towards nurse practitioners and financial need based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is greatly taken into consideration by the selection committee. “Nurses are the first in line when it comes to providing healthcare services to patients. Our country is currently experiencing a high demand in the nursing field, and we must fill it with bright and talented young people,” said Congressman Cuellar. “I encourage interested students to apply and take this unique opportunity to fund their studies while serving the community.” Students who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents and are enrolled or accepted in an accredited diploma, associate, baccalaureate or graduate nursing program; including Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science (BSN) Bridge Programs are eligible to apply. Students interested are encouraged to participate one of the technical assistance conference calls held on April 3 (8-10pm ET) and May 17 (1-3pm ET).
