KURV: Honduran Government and Civil Rights Groups Respond to BP Agent Assault
Rio Grande Valley, Texas,
March 17, 2014
Honduran Government And Civil Rights Groups Respond To BP Agent Assault The Honduran government, local elected officials, and civil rights groups are all strongly condemning the actions of a Valley Border Patrol agent, who raped and left for dead a Honduran woman and her daughter, abducted and raped a second teenage girl who was with them, and then killed himself as law enforcement officers surrounded his apartment. A spokeswoman for the Honduran government is calling on the U-S government to provide medical assistance, financial compensation, and legal immigration status for the three victims. Valley Congressman Henry Cuellar is raising questions about the lack of psychological evaluations in the rush to deploy Border Patrol agents to the southern border. And a coordinator of the Valley's Equal Voice Network is calling on the CBP to use this incident to make the changes needed to improve the training, vetting, and supervision of its agents. http://www.kurv.com/?id=3691 |
