Your Tuesday Cheat Sheet 2-18-14BY JAMES WARREN Is Bill Murray coming to the White House? The president returns from a weekend of mostly golf in California (and spending time with King Abdullah II of Jordan) and hosts the cast of “The Monuments Men,” in theory including Murray, George Clooney and John Goodman. How great a job is President? You just don’t get a movie via Netflix and watch it in your bedroom; you beckon the cast to watch it with you in your personal theater! And the popcorn and any oversized sodas are on us taxpayers.
1. With the Congress off all week, President Obama heads to Maryland in the morning and goes to a Safeway distribution facility to discuss the economy. In the afternoon, he huddles with African American leaders on a variety of issues, including criminal justice reform and, of course, the Affordable Care Act.
2. Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas General Services Administration head Dan Tangherlini and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) will visit the border Port of Entry at Laredo, Texas to announce expansion and modernization funding.
3. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan will be unveiled in wax at Madame Tussauds D.C. Be informed that “Reagan’s figure, which will capture her as she was in 1985, was sculpted using hundreds of photos and footage. Her wax figure took approximately 800 hours to make, with 140 hours to complete just her hair. Reagan will be dressed in her trademark shade of ‘Reagan red,’ which she wore often during her time as the First Lady.” Ah, too much information.
4. The State Department sponsors a discussion live on "Digital Diplomacy: Making Foreign Policy Less Foreign." That just might be interesting.
5. Let’s assume this is important. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission holds a meeting of the “Digital I&C Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) to review the safety evaluation associated with the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) Units 1 and 2 digital replacement of the process protection system (PPS) portion of the Reactor Trip System (RTS) and Engineering Safety Features Actuation (ESFAS) license amendment request (LAR).” Got the difference between DCPP and ESFAS? We hope so. |
