Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced that South Texas College was awarded a grant for $599,495.00, as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities (HSIAC) program.
Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced that South Texas College was awarded a grant for $599,495.00, as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities (HSIAC) program.
“Education is the gateway to better jobs and better opportunities,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Congressman Hinojosa and I really fought to make sure that STC, a well-deserving institution, was recognized. This grant is a step forward to improving and revitalizing South Texas communities, which have been disproportionately effected by the economic downturn.” The purpose of the HSIAC Program is to assist Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) expand their role and effectiveness in addressing community development needs in their localities, including neighborhood revitalization, housing and economic development, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income.
