Rep. Cuellar Calls for Reduction of Veterans' Benefits Backlog |
Congressman Henry Cuellar spoke on the House Floor in support of increased funds to reduce the benefits claims backlog that affects many Texan veterans.

Veterans of all generations deserve a benefits system that is easy to navigate and responsive to their needs. While progress has been made, more work needs to be done so that no veteran has to wait to receive earned benefits.
I voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2015 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which passed the House on Wednesday evening. The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration where it is expected to be approved.

Poteet City Hall Visit |
My outreach coordinator for Atascosa County, Gilbert Lafuente visited with a second grade class from Poteet Elementary School during their visit to City Hall. We discussed the importance of our youngest citizens learning about the value of civic service.

Second grade students from Poteet Elementary School visited City Hall and met with my outreach coordinator for Atascosa County, Gilbert Lafuente, and Poteet City Manager, Scott Moore. They discussed the importance of public service and my outreach coordinator explained how it is vital to learn about public service and local government at an early age.
2014 Laredo Business Hall of Fame Inductees |
My staff presented the newest members of the Laredo Business Hall of Fame their plaques of achievement. Each honoree of the 2014 Class has contributed to the Laredo community by fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the small business environment. |

My staff provided Mr. Robert Summers, Dr. Alfredo & Tina Treviño and Mr. & Mrs. Juan Francisco Ochoa a Congressional Certificates of Recognition for being inducted into the 2014 Laredo Business Hall of Fame. Each of these recipients has been integral in cultivating entrepreneurship in Greater Laredo. Small business has been an economic driver for job creation in our District for many years and continues to grow today.
Mission Prayer Luncheon |
My Outreach Coordinator, Nichole Hernandez, with Mayor Norberto Salinas at a Prayer Luncheon in Mission. This was an excellent opportunity for various groups to get together for a common goal and my staff discussed how we can best work together to serve the community. |

My outreach coordinator for Hidalgo County, Nichole Hernandez, joined the City of Mission, Mission Chamber of Commerce, and representation from diverse religious groups at Mayor Norberto Salinas’s Prayer Luncheon in Mission. It was a very productive event to get members of various groups together for a singular purpose and my staff discussed how we can best work together to serve the Mission community.
