Congressional Report

Dear Friends,

In Washington, D.C., I worked with colleagues to help pass an $8.3 billion spending package to combat the coronavirus epidemic. This will go towards vaccine development, support for state and local governments, and assistance for affected small businesses. Specifically, the supplemental supports the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) repatriation and quarantine efforts, laboratory testing, emergency operations, epidemiological investigations, public information, and surveillance and data analysis.

In the district, I attended a series of events, including the kick-off of TAMIU's 11th annual STEM Alliance week, as well as a press conference in Pleasanton, TX, to discuss the usage agreement between the U.S. Air Force and the City of Pleasanton's municipal airport.

My staff also participated in several events and meetings, including the 18th annual Cowboy Breakfast in Floresville and Astronaut Day at TAMIU.

I have also included a video from the U.S. Census Bureau explaining how the 2020 Census affects representation in Congress.

As always, please contact one of my offices if you need assistance with any federal agency.

On Sunday, February 29, I was in Pleasanton with Mayor Travis Hall Jr., City Council, and Col. Mark Robinson to discuss the usage agreement between the U.S. Air Force and the City of Pleasanton’s municipal airport. This agreement will support training and operations for future Air Force pilots. Pictured is Rep. Cuellar with city and U.S. Air Force officials.

Rep. Cuellar Kicks-Off TAMIU STEM Alliance Week

On Tuesday, February 25, I helped kick-off the 11th annual TAMIU STEM Alliance. Throughout the week, students of all ages will have the chance to learn more about STEM and all the opportunities that exist within it. When I first partnered with TAMIU on this event, 11 years ago, we wanted to create something that would encourage students to explore this field and I’m proud to say that since then, we have continued our mission each year. Pictured is Rep. Cuellar addressing a room full of academic faculty and staff.

U.S. Census Bureau: How Does the 2020 Census Affect Representation?

The 2020 Census is about so much more than just getting an exact number of how many residents are in the United States. Did you know that it also affects the total number of representatives in Congress?

This video from the U.S. Census Bureau explains how the census helps distribute the 435 seats in the House of Representatives among the 50 states.

Sincerely,
Henry Cuellar
