Congressional Report

Dear Friends,

I hope everyone has enjoyed this holiday season with family and friends. As I look back on 2019, I have so much to be thankful for. We’ve done a lot of great work in Washington DC and in our district. From grants to trade to so much more, I could not be more proud to call myself your congressman. As we enter 2020, I look forward to what will come and I especially look forward to continuing my work in helping all of you.

In the district, I had a series of events, including going to the Sheriff's Swearing-in Ceremony. There I had the opportunity to congratulate and welcome four new talented deputies.

I have also included a video from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion with useful tips on how to motivate and encourage yourself to stay active.

As always, please contact one of my offices if you need assistance with any federal agency.

Welcoming in the New Year

My family and I would like to welcome you all into the new decade. I cherish every moment with my loved ones and we are thrilled to take on this new year, creating more memories that will last a lifetime. We hope your 2020 is full of peace, love, health, and happiness. Pictured from left to right is Rep. Cuellar, Cristina Cuellar, Imelda Cuellar and Catherine Cuellar.

Rep. Cuellar Attends Sheriff’s Swear-In Ceremony

On Saturday, December 28, I attended the Sheriff’s Swearing-in Ceremony in Laredo. After completing an intense 20-week training program at the Regional Police Academy, these four new deputies were welcomed into the Webb County Sheriff's Office and are ready to get to work. The Sheriff's Office has now increased to 160 men and women in uniform. Pictured from left to right is Sheriff Cuellar, the four new deputies and Rep. Cuellar.

What We've Done in 2019

This past year, my office and I have had some major accomplishments. In summary, $3.3 billion was appropriated for local projects and $250 million in federal grants were awarded. My team closed 491 constituent cases and completed 546 neighborhood office visits. I had a 100 percent vote attendance, cosponsored 227 bills, sponsored 6 bills and passed 34 cosponsored bills.

As you can see, it was a busy, yet extremely productive 2019!

The 2020 Census is Fast Approaching

Once every 10 years, the Census Bureau counts each resident in the United States. This is no easy feat and it takes the support of thousands of people. The Census is hiring in our district and looking to fill various positions, like clerks, recruiting assistants, office operations supervisors, census field supervisors and census takers. If you’re interested in being a part of something critical to our nation, check out all the job listing for the 2020 Census here.
