Congressional Report
|
Dear Friends,
I would like to provide you with an update from the third week of the August District Work Period, which I have spent across TX28.
Federal Funds Awarded to the City of Encinal
This week, I participated in an event awarding a $1,513,000 loan from the United States Department of Agriculture to the City of Encinal along with City Mayor Sylvano Sanchez and USDA Rural Development State Director Paco Valentin. The funds will be used to construct a new city hall. The successful progressive development of the City of Encinal has been evident throughout the past few years. These funds will support the continued expansion of the community by providing new and efficient delegation offices for city officials

Federal Funds Awarded to the City of Converse
This week I was also honored to present a $195,000 grant to the City of Converse from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program along with City Mayor Suarez and Fire Chief Richard Wentz. The grant will be used to purchase 32 new units of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The City of Converse firefighters and emergency medical services unit have demonstrated acts of valor during times of extreme danger. There have been several deaths and serious injuries across the country due to face mask failure. These funds will help further protect their health and wellbeing through the purchase of this personal protective equipment.

My Interview with Univision Noticias 41
This Tuesday, I visited the Univision studio in San Antonio and talked to nightly news anchor Arantxa Loizaga about border security and US-Mexico relations. Thanks for having me on the show!
