Dear Friends,
|
During this time of stress and uncertainty, every American needs to know that their government is there to support them without hesitation. This is why I voted to pass the interim emergency package last week. This new stimulus package prioritizes relief for small businesses, including additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, as well as also provide funding to our hospitals who are on the front lines of the crisis.
In the district, I joined the KGNS Digital News Desk, for a live interview where we discussed legislative updates and answered constituent questions. I also took part in numerous conference calls and video chats with elected officials and government agencies, to discuss ongoing efforts in combating coronavirus.
With everything going on, there has been so much information released to the public. I understand it can get overwhelming at times, especially since federal, state and local services are constantly being updated. I urge you to visit my website and social media pages, @repcuellar, to stay informed with the latest news.
I would also like to reiterate that my staff continues to work with constituents in the district, as well as those stranded overseas.
As always, please contact one of my offices if you need assistance with any federal agency.

Rep. Cuellar Helps Pass Interim Emergency Package
On Thursday, April 23, I voted to pass the interim emergency package. This fourth stimulus package included $310 billion to replenish the Paycheck Protection Program, $75 billion for hospitals, with a significant portion aimed at rural hospitals, and $25 billion for national coronavirus testing. While there is still much more to do, as a senior member on the Appropriations Committee, I am committed to protecting the safety and well-being of Americans as well as restoring opportunity and prosperity to our economy.
UPDATE: Small Business Administration has resumed accepting Paycheck Protection Program applications
On April 27, the Small Business Administration resumed accepting Paycheck Protection Program applications from participating lenders. These loans are designed to help small businesses keep employees on their payroll as much of the country is still experiencing stay-at-home orders. If you are interested in applying or need help finding an eligible lender, visit SBA's website, here.
