Dear [salutation],
Today, the U.S. Economic Development Association awarded $744,422 for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. These federal funds will go to UTRGV’s Empowering Investors Program to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs right here in South Texas, including Starr County.
These funds seek to address the lack of capital investment in the Rio Grande Valley and will empower historically underserved entrepreneurs in South Texas.
UTRGV plans to develop a variety of education and support programs. Investors will receive training on investments fundamentals, tactics, and strategies while founders will receive training on entrepreneurship skills, accessing markets, and the availability of other resources. Once fully implemented, the project will allow investors to make better informed decisions and will equip startups and small business owners with the knowledge and expertise to efficiently run their businesses.
Small businesses are the heart of our communities, and I fight for them every day in Congress. Investing in our future small business owners will foster economic growth and create good paying jobs across South Texas.
I will never stop fighting for Texas small businesses.
